The APOLENA Foundation welcomes everyone who is willing to contribute – even with the smallest of amounts. We seek money mainly for disposable material for endoscopic equipment, therefore every single crown makes a difference.
Endoscopic end pieces
The purchase of endoscopic end pieces is an absolute PRIORITY for the APOLENA Foundation.
Endoscopic end pieces, or instruments used for surgery inside the abdominal cavity, are absolutely vital in endoscopic surgery. The best ones are single use and their purchase price is around CZK 15,000. We would like to buy dozens of such end pieces every year because the current number of 20 items per year is insufficient for a laparoscopy centre of such importance. Every CZK 15,000 means one operation with state-of-the-art endoscopic end pieces and therefore a major opportunity!
Ultrasound
The G5 endoscopy unit does not have an ultrasound machine. However, ultrasound assistance is a necessary part of certain types of specialised surgery today, such as the breaking up of intrauterine adhesions (Asherman’s syndrome) or corrections of defects of the uterus after Caesarean sections. We would like to obtain a portable ultrasound machine for the unit at the cost of around CZK 200,000. In case a larger donor came forward willing to pay the entire price, the surgeons would be relieved of one major concern...
3D laparoscope
A 3D laparoscope, for example by Olympus, is a dream for the surgeons at the G5 endoscopy unit. This first-rate piece of technology enables absolutely precise work inside the abdominal cavity which is necessary mainly during more complex surgery. However, the purchase price of this state-of-the-art technology is USD 150 000 (CZK 3 million).
